I saw a two star review on the second generation replacement cars that stated the second generation cars weren’t as good as the first. I bought both sets. Both first generation and second generation cars work great. The second generation cars are slightly heavier, and seemed to be a little faster. Second generation cars are variable speed, but maybe slightly more sensitive than the first generation cars because of the increase in speed. The second generation track sets come with a USB charger that can be used to charge both first and second generation cars, rather than having to charge the car using the controller (which pulls from the AA batteries in the controller). Your best bet is to go with the second generation car sets and second generation cars. My three year old son got these for Christmas and loved them, and so did I. No issues out of the box. We’ll see how they hold up long term.

Super cool set up with the under-glow on the cars and the glowing track marks. However cars are so fast itโs almost impossible to race or keep them on the track for any amount of time. Regardless, my kid and I have had plenty of fun and laughs with this racetrack and will continue too.

Nowhere did it say 8 AA batteries were required for the cars so be forewarned. The cars go fast once charged and 4 yr old grandson likes it but a lot of time is spent with cars flying off tracks.

We bought this for Christmas and only one of the cars work. East to put together and my kids love driving the one car around. Would have been great if both worked.

The cars are fast and work as advertised, however the track itself leaves something to be desired. There are seams where the pieces of track fit together and usually there is a small bump at the seam. This small bump will launch the car from the track. Race about 5 times around, then spend 2 or 3 minutes putting the track back together, smoothing out the seams. Repeat until fully frustrated.

Grandpa has had a few race tracks in my life but this one I bought for my grandson is leaps and bounds better. My 4 year old grandson can set it up without help and plays with it for hours! Best design around!!

So far my son has really enjoyed racing his brothers with this track. No problems since he received it at Christmas.

I love the fact there are no slots. The Tracer Racers run on open floors for more options. Hot wheels tracks and car can be used, without RC & power, of course. Just gravity. I’m amazed at how fast each cars battery recharges. 5-10 minutes and you’re up and running.
